Cuando faltan un par de días para que los Golden Joystiq Awards desvelen cuales son los juegos más votados por la comunidad de jugadores, la ceremonia por excelencia, los Game Awards 2016, han presentado la lista de nominados a las diferentes categorías de este año. De hecho, esta ceremonia, que es la que hereda la relevancia de los VGA Awards, los que acuñaron el término GOTY, tienen a su disposición hasta 24 categorías, donde se vuelven a colar Youtubers y eSports, pero que mantiene un estilo más clásico a la hora de buscar los mejores juegos de 2016.
Es así como encontramos alguna que otra sorpresa, por ejemplo, con juegos como Doom o Titanfall 2 entre los candidatos al GOTY, compartiendo candidatura con juegos como Inside, Overwatch y Uncharted 4, dejando fuera otros juegos que parecían tener más posibilidades de entrar en esta categoría. Entre los juegos, encontramos poco desde Microsoft, ya que juegos como Gears of War 4 presentan su candidatura a Mejor Multijugador y Forza Horizon 3 se las tendrá que ver en una categoría compartida con los juegos deportivos. Vemos también la 3ª Temporada de Killer Instinct entre los juegos de lucha, pero por lo demás, se puede comprobar que hay una gran igualdad.
